Top Tips For Making the Most of Online Sessions
Use earphones or a headset:
This will prevent audio being cut off when both people talk at the same time.
Use Wired or Wifi:
Prefer wired connections, then Wi-Fi, then data. This will increase video quality and reduce connection drops.
For Slower Connections:
If internet connection in household is slow, request others using the same connection to refrain from streaming or gaming during meeting time. If using WiFi try to be as close to the router as possible:
Lighting:
Do not have strong lighting behind you when facing the camera, as this will lead the camera to darken to compensate, turning anything in the foreground (you) into a silhouette. Ideally, face a window with the camera/device between you and the window. Turn room light on if dark.
Privacy:
If possible, try to guarantee yourself privacy and freedom from interruption. Turn off notifications on your phone, as these can often cut the audio and even video when received. If possible, let others in the household know you don't want to be interrupted. If all else fails, and you have unlimited data, perhaps it's possible to "walk and talk" or go to your car.
Devices:
Make sure the tech you’re using has enough battery charged, and is plugged in, as some devices work slower if running off battery, and especially low battery.
