Delivering psychotherapy online

I have many years experience delivering online therapy. I also have specialist training from ProReal on training others to work online using their software.

This training is designed to help you adapt your psychotherapy training to online support. The training will cover.

  • Software: choosing software, setting it up and preparing clients

  • Contracting: adapting contracts with clients to online work

  • Working Creatively Online: this will be bespoke to each therapist or group, and involve working closely with the practitioner on how to adapt their specific approach, whether that is talking therapy, CBT, art therapy, dance therapy, or any other approach.

  • Dis-inhibition: exploring what it is, and how to work with it.

  • Establishing Ongoing Support: consider what is needed to support your work going forward

Sessions can be delivered online via zoom as a 1:1 training or in groups.

Therapeutic Skills Training (BASIC and Advanced)

Counsellors and psychotherapists often use core skills to help their clients feel safe and make progress. Originally designed to help young volunteers in Off the Record gain confidence and skills in supporting the young people who came to the service, I have now adapted this training to help a wide range of practitioners, from yoga practitioners to teachers, integrate core psychotherapy skills into their practice, so that they can better support their clients, and even their friends and family!

Vicarious Trauma Training

Many of us, including the likes of therapists, teachers, police officers, nurses, and so on, regularly support people who suffer from psychological trauma. Often, when supporting such people, we can experience what's called Vicarious Trauma, which can sometimes lead to increased stress and burnout.

This training is designed to help prevent and recover from Vicarious Trauma.

Peer Support Training

This training was originally designed to help teachers support each other after dealing with stressful situations in the classroom, but it can apply to an environment where peers or colleague want to learn how to better support each other throughout the day.

This training is designed to teach the basic attitudes and skills required to create a supportive relationships with peers and colleagues, as well as how the learning can be integrated into the workplace.
