Counselling / Psychotherapy

Traditional counselling and psychotherapy (also known as talking therapies) can be used to explore a wide range of mental health issues, as well as personal growth.

Using this apporach, we talk openly together about what's going on for you in a mostly unstructured way, and follow what comes up from session to session.

This approach can feel very safe and supportive for those who just want to talk, and can be useful for anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, childhood memories, and personal development.

 
Relationship Counselling

Relationship Counselling

Therapeutic support can be vital in healing relationships that are under strain or have broken down.

More, often because of our upbringing or context, we can develop ways of being that undermine our chances of building good relationships in our lives, and relationship counselling can also help you develop what’s needed to create good relationships in the first place.

And to be clear, this support and the skills that can come with it, are useful in all relationships and with all sexualities. From LGBT relationships to learning how to create healthy friendships, relationships counselling can help you.

  • Communication Skills
  • Assertiveness
  • Listening To and Supporting Others
  • Saying “no”
  • Exploring Sex and Intimacy

Heroic Journeys Therapy

This is a specific therapeutic approach that I have design myself over the years through my own studies and personal development.

We will use physical sensations, imagery, and communication techniques to communicate with hidden aspects of yourself and go on an adventure into the depths of your psyche.

This is a therapeutic approach that draws upon approaches such as Gestalt Therapy, with looks at the power of cycles and processes, Shadow Work, with looks shame at the hidden or buried aspects of self, and Constellations work, which creates a powerful space in which parts of our self can interact and reunite.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy is a semi-structured approach that in particularly useful for the following mental health issues:

  • Low Mood / Depression
  • Obessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Social Phobia
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Specific Phobia (eg. spiders, heights)
  • Trauma and PTSD

If you are unsure what mental health issue you are struggling with, don't worry, this approach can help us identify what exactly is going on, and how CBT might help.

CBT generally focuses on changing thoughts and/or behaviours that are keeping us stuck in lifestyles or mindsets that are damaging our mental health.

 

Solution-Focused Therapy (Coaching)

Solution-focused therapy has a clear structure that can be used for a wide range of issues that you might want to tackle.

  • Identify the goal
  • Identify where we are at right now
  • Identify clear, achievable, small steps towards our goal
  • idenitfy ways to put those steps into action

This approach is simple in structure, but incredibly powerful in bringing about important changes in our lives.

People use this approach to tackle many different areas, such as

  • Making better lifestyle choices
  • Finding the dream job
  • Improving relationships
  • Tackling a complex project
 

Creative Therapy

Using the imagination, creative therapy can draw upon things like art, music, movement, writing, vision-cards, and the power of visualisation, to allow the person to explore aspects of themselves that can otherwise be beyond words.

This approach can be particularly useful for those who find it difficult to talk, or, have an area of development they feels words just can’t reach.
